and, 20 years later, i found myself in the middle of two wars, iraq and afghanistan. during one of the performances outside of kabul, some bombs went off during the song, "some gave all." i paused and one of the soldiers stood up and said, "keep going, mr. cyrus. we're used to it." and i finished the song. and it was that moment that i knew i'm gonna do a whole album and salute these troops. they're the bravest men and women in the world. [ laughter ] >> and being overseas, being in the warzone, those young soldiers would come up and they'd say, "man, i went to see your show back in indiana when i was 8 years old. i had a mullet just like yours."
